Holiday in Fort Collins

I don't know about anyone else, but on Holidays, all I like to do is sleep.

Today is Memorial Day and usually, back in San Diego, my family and I have a BBQ. I think we also sometimes go see a movie together. Really, nothing big. The whole point is just to spend time with family.

Here, I spent the day being extremely lazy. For the most part, it was in the disguise of actually working on home projects. What really ended up happening was that I took these intermediate naps while waiting for paint to dry on furniture.

Yep, I'm one exciting chica.

But that is how most Holdiays should be spent: being utterly relaxed.

Blogging because I love writing

So, with the end of my comps (a three day long testing to make me earn my Master's Degree) and the end of all my excuses, I am about to crack down on my studies for a stupid, scary test (which I refuse to name...no, I will name. I shall name you Ester...I am not very fond of that name - just like that stupid test - It makes me think of an Old Maiden Aunt who is judging me because I'm wearing a low cut dress)

So, in addition to studying everyday like it's my job (for at LEAST six five hours...promise...no really...). Stupid test.

BUT, on a brighter side, I get to write more.

Here, on my photoblog, and probably on another one that I will be doing (shhh...I'll tell you more later).

All I have to say is, HELL YA! Finished one exam, now just to finish the other one.

What I learned Today

Yes, It is only 9:38am, but I have already learned a few valuable lessons I feel that most humans would benefit from learning.

  1. I cannot study near a bed. (Narcolepsy)
  2. I study better in the morning (probably the fact that I slept when I was near that bed).
  3. I like coffee...a lot.
And as long as you do not add sugar or milk, Coffee Addition is HEALTHY! Yay Science!

Snow

So, I'm still a little skittish when it comes to driving in the snow. I've been super lucky in the fact that it has been a pretty mild winter. In fact, most days the temperature is around 40 degrees.

Now, having a past where 40 degrees was close to freezing in my eyes (an average day was spent between 65-75) the fact that I find 40 degrees agreeable is crazy talk. Can you image? Talk about adaptation of the human species.

In fact, I recall people explaining that the raise in temperature tricks the body into thinking that it is a lot warmer then it is. There was a day last November when the temp got as low as -7 (imaginary numbers!!!i). Then raised to 19 and the next day to 32 degrees. By that third day, I was able to drive with the windows down because I felt so warm.

Insane.

Oh how amazing the human body can be.

New Year, New Goal

Okay, so yes, it has been FOREVER since my last post...but I basically disconnected in order to be a better student. Well, since that worked out well, I decided to reward myself and commit a new 2012 goal:

Be Better at Social Media.

Partly because my job requires it, but also because this is a great way for future endeavors...or in other words, I might one day want to use Social Media to reach a greater audience. What can I say, I'm slightly narcissistic and think that I am a great witty, adorable, amazing, epic, interesting enough person that someone might find what i say worth reading. Or at the very least, like my pictures (those are on my other blog) Heck, I even started a humor/random blog about dating (and since THAT isn't happening, that makes it all the more interesting!).

However, since coming back from a relaxing, WARM vacation in socal, the weather here in the mountains has actually been really mild. Excepting the random bit of snow we got yesterday. I still can't get over that. The whole, "Oh, it's just snowing slightly, nothing to worry about." Snow is so weird!!

Weird in the since that unlike rain in socal (which no human who is born there can drive in), it phases no one here. I am in awe every time I see the stuff. I still have yet to make my full blown snowman. I plan on doing that during the Toxicology (yes, I said it, that's what I am studying, and yes, I am a nerd smart girl) snow retreat. I believe everyone will be snowboarding/skiing. I plan on building a snowman. I know how to do both of those sports, but I'd rather not fall on my a$$ over and over and then have snow go down my pants. That is what I remember most from my childhood during the winter: numb butt syndrome. All well, stay tuned for more random updates from this transplanted beach bum.
